PM to lay foundation stone for Railway projectS in Ayodhya, Karnataka

NEW DELHI: In an upcoming event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to virtually lay the foundation stones for the renovation of two railway stations in Faizabad, namely Darshan Nagar and Bharat Kund Railway Stations, on August 6.

These developments are part of the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme, wherein the Ministry of Railways has allocated Rs. 20 crore and Rs. 16 crore for the development of Darshan Nagar and Bharat Kund Railway Stations, respectively, as stated by Faizabad Member of Parliament, Lallu Singh. The project encompasses nearly two dozen railway stations across the country, all under the ambit of the AMRUT Scheme.

On the same day, PM Modi will also virtually lay the foundation stone for the upgradation of Mangaluru Junction railway station to international standards. The upgrading of Mangaluru Junction will be executed at an estimated cost of Rs. 19.32 crore, with the intention to enhance other train stations in the future under this scheme, as mentioned by Dakshina Kannada Member of Parliament and BJP state president, Nalin Kumar Kateel. This initiative is part of the broader Amrit Bharat station scheme, which aims to bolster the infrastructure of key railway stations throughout the country.

The announcement of this move was made previously by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during her 2023-24 budget speech. The budget outline included the upgrade of not only Mangaluru Junction but also Mangaluru Central, Bantwal, and Subramanya railway stations in Dakshina Kannada district, all under the purview of the Amrit Bharat station scheme. Nalin Kumar Kateel expressed his gratitude for the Prime Minister's and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw's initiative in facilitating the upgradation of these stations.
