Mumbai: Varsha Raut, wife of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, is scheduled to appear before the Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday in a case related to the Punjab and Maharashtra Cooperative Bank scam. This is going to be the third time when Varsha Raut has been summoned by the investigating agency. The sources associated with him say that Varshan Raut was issued a summons by the ED twice before, but at that time he had said that he was ill. After ED called his wife, Sanjay Raut said in a statement that "targeting women at home is an act of cowardice." Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut also said, "We are not afraid of anyone and will react accordingly." In September last year, the RBI reduced the withdrawal limit and restricted the activities of PMC bank after the alleged fraud of Rs 4,355 crore. The Enforcement Directorate later seized movable and immovable assets worth more than Rs 3,830 crore owned by Housing Development Infrastructure Limited. The Shiv Sena leader at the moment also accused the central government of using investigative agencies to harass important political opponents to form the government in Maharashtra. He said, "In the last one year, Sharad Pawar, Eknath Khadse and Pratap Sarnaik received a notice and now everyone is discussing my name. All these people are important to form government in Maharashtra." Apart from this, he has also alleged that 'central agencies are being used as "weapons" against family members of BJP political opponents, who cannot be won. BJP leaders had a list of 22 Congress MLAs and NCP with them, who would be made to resign under pressure from central investigative agencies.
