Police Commemoration Day: A Big Salute to Police

In the midst of Corona crisis, nations are proud of police force of human fraternity at large. Big salute to Police force who are extending their noble work without break or rest in spite of the crisis and risk involved in their own lives. Police personnel have been working tirelessly for protecting and helping people worldwide and we do not have sufficient words to express our gratitude.  

Police Commemoration Day is honored on October 21 every year to memorize and honour the brave policemen who have laid down their lives in the line of duty. The day follows its set of experiences back to 21 October 1959, when twenty Indian officers were assaulted by Chinese soldiers in Ladakh. Because of the squabble between the soldiers, ten Indian cops lost their lives and seven were detained.

Over a month later, on 28 November 1959, Chinese soldiers handed over the dead bodies of the martyred policemen. Since that day, 21 October has been seen as Police Commemoration Day to pay tribute to the martyrs. In 2018, PM Narendra Modi initiated the main ever National Police Memorial in New Delhi on the event of Police Commemoration Day. He saluted the police powers and their families and asked the individuals of the nation to visit the police exhibition hall. In his adderess, Modi expressed that – ‘A year ago, the National Police Memorial was committed to the country. This Memorial is a position of motivation and appreciation. It helps us to remember the fearlessness of our police powers. Do visit the National Police Memorial at whatever point conceivable," The National Police Memorial remembers 34,844 police personal from the entirety of the focal and state police powers who have relinquished their lives since 1947.
