Lucknow: Police beat up sweeper who is going for work during lockdown

Somewhere a policeman is providing food to the hungry, then somewhere a policeman assists a woman suffering from labour and sends her to the hospital. But amidst all this, the actions of some policemen are such that the image of the entire department is being tarnished.

One such case has come to light from Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, where a sweeper has accused the policemen of beating him without any reason. This sweeper was going to his work. During this time, the police stopped him and hit him, alleging violation of lockdown rules and made a challan of his car without reason, while the sweeper had the helmet and all the documents on the spot.

Lucknow Municipal Corporation sweeper Sunil has alleged that when he was going to his work last Saturday, the policemen standing on Sitapur Road in the police station Madianv area stopped him. When the scavenger showed his I-card of the Municipal Corporation, the policemen called him fake. The policemen told Sunil that there is no sign of any officer on his card and beat him up.
