Political Controversy Erupts Over Ladakh Issue as Leaders Exchange Views on China's Actions

New Delhi: Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has responded to Rahul Gandhi's statement criticizing Prime Minister Modi's assertion that no land was lost in Ladakh, suggesting that the Congress should reflect on their own history. Scindia highlighted the Congress party's past stance of promoting friendly relations with China, including the "hindi chini bhai bhai" slogan, and the alleged relinquishment of 45,000 square kilometers of land to China. He implied that the Congress should address these historical decisions before commenting on the current situation.

Rahul Gandhi earlier remarked that despite the Prime Minister's claim that no land was taken by China in Ladakh, this assertion contradicts the accounts of local residents. Gandhi mentioned that people in the region have reported Chinese incursions resulting in the seizure of grazing land. In response, Congress members criticized PM Modi for his handling of the Chinese incursions. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh accused the Prime Minister of prioritizing his image over the nation's interests. He referenced the intrusion in June 2020 and accused PM Modi of giving China a clean chit.

Congress Spokesperson and Media Chairman Pawan Khera echoed this sentiment, stating that a different Prime Minister might have taken a stronger stance and visited the affected areas. He thanked Rahul Gandhi for delivering a necessary message to China and the world, emphasizing that the disputed land belongs to India. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge criticized PM Modi's response to China's actions, asserting that the nation is suffering due to the Prime Minister's leniency. Kharge stressed the importance of a strategic approach in addressing China rather than relying on empty boasts.

Sanjay Raut, a leader from Shiv Sena's Uddhav Thackeray faction, supported Rahul Gandhi's stance, stating that China's occupation of Indian territory is evident. He criticized the Defence Minister and Prime Minister for not acknowledging this situation and expressed concern for the country's sovereignty. In light of the ongoing discussions surrounding China's actions in Ladakh, the political discourse highlights different viewpoints within various parties and their leaders.
