Vatican City: Pope Francis has once again shown his unwavering support for Ukraine, which continues to endure the hardships of war since the Russian invasion began two years ago. As a Christmas gesture, the Pope is sending a special gift to the Ukrainian people – a mobile medical unit that will assist with treating the wounded. This mobile unit, capable of performing surgeries, will be delivered by Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, who oversees the Pope’s relief efforts. In addition to the mobile unit, Pope Francis is also sending six ultrasound machines to hospitals that have been severely damaged by bombings. These gifts are part of the ongoing humanitarian aid to support Ukraine’s healthcare system in the midst of the ongoing conflict. During his visit, Cardinal Krajewski will travel to various communities across Ukraine, offering hope and comfort, as well as conveying the Pope’s closeness to the suffering people. Cardinal Krajewski, who has visited Ukraine at least eight times since the war began, is once again representing the Pope’s charity work. Over the course of the conflict, the Vatican has sent significant aid to Ukraine, including food, clothing, and generators. In the lead-up to Christmas, Cardinal Krajewski’s mission to Ukraine aims to provide both physical and emotional support to those affected by the war. He will bring with him a large camper van, equipped as a mobile hospital, as well as six ultrasound machines for hospitals in need of equipment. The Cardinal’s visits are an essential part of the Vatican’s efforts to provide hope and care to the people of Ukraine during this difficult time. Previously, in August, the Vatican organized a convoy to deliver essential supplies such as food, baby food, medicine, and clothing to the eastern region of Kharkiv, one of the hardest-hit areas by the war. Additionally, Cardinal Krajewski’s visit in June focused on delivering medical supplies to the city of Ternopil, including an ambulance equipped for intensive care and live-saving medicines from the Vatican Pharmacy and Rome’s Gemelli Hospital. Through these acts of charity, Pope Francis continues to demonstrate his profound solidarity with the people of Ukraine, offering both material and spiritual support during this difficult time.
