Entrepreneurs struggling with labor shortage, know how to run work

In the midst of the havoc of Corona, farmers and entrepreneurs themselves are taking steps to deal with the labor shortage crisis in Punjab. Buses are being sent to bring workers from other states. Workers from other states have been brought from Barnala through 105 buses of 14 transport companies.

The farmers, who are struggling with the shortage of laborers for planting paddy, have started sending buses at their level and have started bringing laborers from outside states. In the last 15 days only 105 buses of 14 transport companies were sent from Barnala to several states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh. Nearly four thousand laborers were brought in these buses from villages Tapa, Dhanula, Mahalakalan, Shahana, Bhadaur, Okhriwala, Sanghera, Farwahi, Carrey, Sukhpura, Khuddi and Handia. For this, the farmers first talked to the administration and then applied online for the pass. When the farmers promised the laborers every facility to live, eat and drink, then they agreed. The farmers took buses themselves and brought workers.

In his statement, Gurmel Singh and Baljinder Singh of Barnala and Ladi Singh of Sherpur elder told that they have 100 acres of land. On 31 May, he took a bus and left for Bareilly and brought 35 laborers from there. A bus has to pay about 50 thousand. Farmers Jagveer Singh of village Atargarh, Deepinder Singh of Bhadalwad, Bagga Singh of Nangal, Surjit Singh, Butter Singh, Jarnail Singh and Jagseer Singh told that the paddy transplanting work was stopped. They will pay the cost of three thousand rupees per acre to the farmers and to bring and go along with the food. The laborers who remained were double the rate instead of three thousand per acre. In Sangrur, two panchayats had also announced their social boycott on demanding more money.
