Pralhad Joshi calls for the urgent necessity for sustainable mining in India

NEW DELHI: Union Minister for Mines Pralhad Joshi said that sustainable mining is the need of the hour. He made the announcement while addressing the sixth National Conclave on mines and minerals in New Delhi Tuesday.

He said, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the mineral mining sector has achieved its peak of growth and that, thanks to his vision, mineral production is reaching new heights.

He said that the government has changed many aspects of the mining policies in response to input from many stakeholders. Joshi emphasised independence in the mining industry as well. Raosaheb Patil Danve, a minister of state for mines, also spoke at the event and stated that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's direction, the country aims to have a five trillion dollar GDP. He said, the Ministry of Mines has taken a number of steps to ensure that everyone would benefit. Danve claimed that over the past eight years, India has experienced growth and is moving toward independence.

He also stated that state governments will receive incentives for successfully auctioning off mines and for locating new mineral blocks. Other States will be motivated by this to perform better in the mining industry. During the national conference on mines and minerals, which will be convened in New Delhi, he said, successful States will be awarded. Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, presented the Rashtriya Khanij Vikas Puraskar and other awards at the conclave.

As a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the conclave has been organised.
