BHOPAL: The President, Droupadi Murmu, emphasized the importance of understanding and cooperation to tackle the various challenges faced by the world. She made these remarks while inaugurating the 'Unmesha' and 'Utkarsh' festivals organized by the Sahitya Akademi and Sangeet Natak Akademi in Bhopal. The 'Unmesha' is an international literary festival spanning three days, while the 'Utkarsh' celebrates folk and tribal expressions on a national level. Among the distinguished guests addressing the function were Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who warmly welcomed the President upon her arrival at the Bhopal airport. Unmesha 2023, taking place in Bhopal from August 3-6, is renowned for its inclusivity, representing a vast array of languages, making it Asia's largest literature festival and well on its way to becoming the world's largest. With the participation of over 575 authors in 102 languages and writers from 13 countries, this year's Unmesha promises to be a truly global and diverse celebration of literature. This edition of Unmesha marks the second event, following the first held in Shimla back in June 2022.
