TURA: President Droupadi Murmu interacted with members of self-help groups (SHG) at Baljek Airport in Meghalaya's Tura on Tuesday. Virtually inaugurating the new integrated administration complex in Tura, President Murmu emphasized the crucial role of women's empowerment in achieving the nation's vision of development by 2047. In her address, President Murmu highlighted the significant contributions of Indian women across various fields such as defense, science and technology, sports, education, entrepreneurship, and agriculture. Stressing the importance of encouragement through simple gestures, she expressed that women need support and acknowledgment for their achievements. President Murmu emphasized that the concept of women-led development can only be realized when women have the freedom to make their own choices. Economic independence, she noted, plays a vital role in boosting women's self-confidence. While acknowledging the government's efforts to enhance women's participation in various sectors, President Murmu acknowledged that there is still much work to be done in the journey towards women's empowerment. Encouraging people to recognize and appreciate the values and qualities of the women around them, President Murmu urged for continued support. She emphasized the need for SHG members to not only progress individually but also extend a helping hand to other women, emphasizing that their journey is not solitary but shared by countless women across the country. President Murmu urged SHG members to serve as inspiration for women who have yet to explore opportunities beyond their homes. She stressed the importance of becoming role models and contributing to the empowerment of women at both the regional and national levels.
