President Droupadi Murmu will make history by presenting the Standard and Colours to four Indian Air Force units, as announced by the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday. This event marks the first time that four units of the IAF will receive the prestigious President's Standard and Colours simultaneously. According to the Rashtrapati Bhavan's announcement on Thursday, President Murmu will confer the President’s Standard upon the 45 Squadron and the 221 Squadron, along with the President’s Colours upon the 11 Base Repair Depot and the 509 Signal Unit. The President's Standard and Colours are symbols of the highest military honor bestowed upon any armed forces unit. The selection of these four units for these esteemed awards underscores their remarkable contributions to the illustrious history of the Indian Air Force. The President’s Standard will be received by Group Captain M. Surendran, Commanding Officer of the 45 Squadron, and Group Captain Shubhankan, Commanding Officer of the 221 Squadron. The President’s Colours will be received by Air Commodore Ashutosh Vaidya, Commander of the 11 BRD, and Group Captain Vivek Sharma, Commanding Officer of the 509 Signal Unit.
