President Murmu to Attend Jagannath Rath Yatra 2024 in Odisha's Puri Odisha's historic and grand Jagannath Rath Yatra, also known as the Ratha Jatra, is set to commence on July 7, 2024, in Puri. This annual Hindu chariot festival, renowned as the oldest and largest of its kind, draws millions of devotees from across the country. President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to grace this auspicious occasion, marking her presence on Sunday, July 7. Her visit is part of a four-day itinerary in Odisha, starting from July 6. The Rashtrapati Bhavan announced her visit, highlighting various engagements during her stay. On July 6, President Murmu will commemorate the 96th death anniversary of Utkalamani Pandit Gopabandhu Das in Bhubaneswar. The following day, she will visit the Udayagiri caves and engage with students from Bibhuti Kanungo College of Art and Crafts and Utkal University of Culture. July 8 will witness the inauguration of the Divine Retreat Centre of Brahma Kumaris at Haridamada village near Bhubaneswar, along with the launch of the 'Lifestyle for Sustainability' campaign. The President's itinerary culminates on July 9 with her presence at the 13th graduation ceremony of the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) in Bhubaneswar. Security arrangements have been tightened in Puri, ensuring a safe and smooth conduct of the Rath Yatra.
