Prime Minister Modi Mourns the Passing of Former EAM Natwar Singh

New Delhi: On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences following the death of former External Affairs Minister K. Natwar Singh. In a statement on social media platform X, PM Modi described Singh as a distinguished diplomat who made significant contributions to the fields of diplomacy and foreign policy. He praised Singh’s intellect and prolific writing and extended his thoughts to Singh's family and admirers, offering his respects with the message, "Om Shanti."

K. Natwar Singh, a prominent Congress leader and former External Affairs Minister, passed away on Saturday night at the age of 93. He died at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram, Haryana, after a prolonged illness. His last rites are scheduled to be performed at Lodhi Road Crematorium on August 12.

Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Singh Surjewala also paid tribute, calling Singh's passing "sad" and wishing strength for his family during this difficult time. Surjewala added, "May God give strength to his family to bear this loss and grant peace to the departed soul." Singh, who served as External Affairs Minister from 2004 to 2005 in the Cabinet of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1984 for his distinguished service.
