Prince Philip's funeral to be held on this day, but PM will not attend

Preparations are still on for Prince Philip's funeral. The Duke of Edinburgh, the husband of Queen Elizabeth II, died on Friday at the age of 99. Buckingham Palace has said that Prince Philip's funeral is scheduled to be held at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle on the following Saturday, April 17. 

It is estimated that it is going to be a formal event instead of a big government event. Gradually more information is going to be made in the public in the time to come for the funeral.

Prime Minister will not be present at the funeral: During this time Britain PM Boris Johnson was quoted as saying that the PM will not attend the funeral of the Duke of Edinburgh next Saturday so that more people from the royal family will be able to attend the event.

The statement issued from PM's Government residence 10, Downing Street, said, "PM has always wanted to act in the interest of the royal family. So he has decided to get more members of the royal family to join the program. They will not go to the event. " According to the statement, this decision has been taken in view of the restrictions imposed on the gathering of a location during the period of covid transition. Due to covid, no more than 30 people can gather in one place. Therefore, the common people have been requested to stay away from this event.

One minute silence on the day of the funeral: It is expected that Prince Philip's children, grandchildren, and grandchildren along with others close to attending the event at St. George's Chapel, Windsor. Meanwhile, it has been said that the list of guests to attend the program will be released on Thursday. According to local time on the day of the funeral, a minute's silence will be observed throughout the country at three o'clock in the afternoon. The Prince Philip's coffin will be taken from Windsor Castle to St. George's Chapel in a special Land Rover carriage. Behind the coffin will be people from the royal family, including Prince Charles. At the same time, the Queen will reach these different chapels. The coffin will carry Prince Philip's Navy cap and sword.
