Priyadarshan dedicates his National award to filmmakers Ramesh Sippy and David Lean.

Priyadarshan’s directorial ‘Marakkar - Arabikkadalinte Simham’ had bagged the award for the best feature film of the year at the 67th National Film awards. The movie features Mohanlal in the lead. In his latest social media post, Priyadarshan shared that he is dedicating the award to ‘Sholay’ director Ramesh Sippy and legendary filmmaker David Lean.
 
“Dedicating my national award for ‘Marakkar - Lion of the Arabian Sea ’ category- “Feature film of the year ” to the great filmmakers Remesh Sippy of Sholay and the master director David Lean who taught me how to shoot big frames. #Marakkar #remeshsippy #davidlean,” Priyadarshan tweeted.
 
Meanwhile, ‘Marakkar - Arabikkadalinte Simham’ made a big win at the 67th National Film Awards, by bagging three prestigious honours - Best feature film, Best Costume Design, and Best Special Effects. The movie is set in the 16th century and tells the story of Kunjali Marakkar IV, naval commander of the Samoothiri, known for defending the Malabar Coast against the Portuguese invasion. Some of the A-listers in the country including Arjun Sarja, Suniel Shetty, Prabhu, Manju Warrier, Keerthy Suresh, Mukesh, Siddique, and Nedumudi Venu are part of the cast.
