Priyanka Gandhi starts a two-day Assam visit by offering prayers at Kamakhya

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra commenced her two-day visit to poll-bound Assam on Monday, March 1,  by offering prayers at the well-known Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati. The AICC general secretary, accompanied by the party's Assam in-charge Jitendra Singh, was received at the Lokpriyo Gopinath Bordoloi Airport by state unit chief Ripun Bora and other party leaders.

Dressed in a red outfit, the prevalent colour symbolizing Shakti, Priyanka said that she wanted to visit the temple for long and "her wish has come true".

"Today I got the good fortune of seeing mother Kamakhya. I prayed for the welfare of all the countrymen to Kamakhya," she tweeted. "I come to temples to seek blessings and offer thanks to the God who has given me a lot," she added.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also tweeted a few verses of Sanskrit slokas for goddess Kamakhya.

The Kamakhya Temple is a Sakta temple dedicated to the mother goddess Kamakhya. It is one of the oldest of the 51 Shakti Pithas situated on the Nilachal Hill in the western part of Guwahati city in Assam, India.

Last weekend, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had also visited Sant Ravidas temple on his birth anniversary and tweeted about Sant Ravidas's messages of equality to create an ideal society service and goodwill.
