Lucknow: After dissolving the district-level committees in Uttar Pradesh, the National General Secretary of the Congress, Priyanka Vadra, has outlined a major change in the party in the state. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Congress had won only one seat in the state, the most embarrassing performance it has ever had. Priyanka Vadra is insisting on bringing youth to the party. Priyanka has said that more than 50 per cent of the district committee members should be below 40 years of age. They have also asked for more women members to be included in the district committees. Priyanka Vadra's four-point agenda includes the participation of OBC and SC community leaders in the leadership team in the district. The party is also eyeing farmer leaders, social workers and student leaders in the state. They will be encouraged to join the Congress. During Priyanka's review meetings, several leaders had said that earlier Congress governments had more representation of the Youth Congress and were always involved in a public campaign.
