New Delhi: India's latest shipping satellite launched from polar rockets yesterday failed due to technological disturbances just before its inception in the orbit.
Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) chief AS Kiran Kumar said that the mission was unsuccessful as the heat shield could not be separated from the satellite.
Kumar announced at the Mission Control Center, "There was a problem with the C-39 launch vehicle, the heat shield did not stand out. Because of this, the satellite was inside the heat shield and we have to analyze what happened."
He said that apart from the failure of separation from heat shield, the rest took place smoothly. A detailed review will be done soon.
The successful launch of India's eighth shipping satellite- IRNSS-1H- could have begun a new era for India in the space sector because the private sector was actively engaged in the combination and launch of the satellite for the first time. Earlier, the role of the private sector was limited to equipment supply.
