9 patients killed in Puducherry & 442 new corona cases found in last 24 hours

Puducherry: The Union Territory of Puducherry has also seen some decline in cases of corona infection reported every day on Saturday, with 442 new cases of corona infection reported in the Union Territory in the last 24 hours, with the number of infected cases rising to 1,12,126. Nine patients have lost their lives due to infection the previous day, with the number of corona deaths rising to 1,677.

These new patients have been identified in the testing of samples of 9,030 people and have come from Puducherry (321), Karaikal (97), Yanam (10) and Mahe (14). In the last 24 hours, 9 patients who died of corona were between 35 and 88 years of age and two patients had no other serious illness. Health department director S Mohan Kumar said 1.04 lakh patients have also recovered in the state so far. On the other hand, the number of active cases in the state is 5,745, out of which 884 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals and the remaining 4,861 patients are in home isolation.

Kumar said 11.55 lakh samples have been tested so far, out of which 9.94 lakh samples were found negative. The infection rate in the state is 4.89 percent, while corona mortality rate is recorded at 1.50 per cent and recovery rate at 93.38 per cent. Meanwhile, the official on the vaccination programme said that 36,149 health workers and 22,609 frontline employees have been vaccinated against corona in Puducherry so far.
