In the 7th Junior National Hockey Championship 2017 (Women) 'A' division yesterday in a quarter-final contest Hockey Punjab defeated Hockey Gangpur - Odisha.
Gurkamalpreet Kaur scored the opening goal in the 5th minute from the Hockey Punjab side. Baljeet Kaur (14') and Rajwinder Kaur (16') gave Hockey Punjab the lead. Thus, they beat the Hockey Gangpur - Odisha by 5-3.
In the second quarter-final match, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy performed well and defeated Sports Authority of India by 4-0.
