Punjab police will take services of civilian experts in technical investigation

On Wednesday, the Punjab cabinet has decided on a work plan related to the high-tech investigation. They cleared the way for being the first police of India to take the services of experts related to the civil part. These citizen experts will be helpful in solving the investigation case in IT / Digital, Legal, Forensic and Financial departments.

For the Punjab Investigation Bureau, 798 experts will be appointed as civilian assistant employees with ordinary clothes. 4251 employees will be recruited for different ranks. This will strengthen the important technical aspect of the investigation. This recruitment will be part of the reorganization of Punjab Police Department.

The government spokesperson said that this reorganization has been approved by the cabinet in the meeting held through video conference. This reorganization, in which the bureau is directly recruited into the ranks of sub-inspectors / head constables and constables. The existing 4849 posts will be abolished, which will make sure that there is no additional financial burden on the state exchequer.

1481 police officers will be recruited as a temporary scheme, which includes 297 SI, 811 head constables and 373 constables. This will help the experts needed to properly complete the financial type of investigation for various cyber and economic crimes, and also improve the quality of the investigation process. In the present case, the responsibility of investigation is with the General Police Staff in the Punjab Investigation Bureau established in 2015.
