Puri: Police foil dacoity bid, arrest seven persons

 The Puri Town Police on Thursday foiled a dacoity bid with the arrest of seven persons of a gang from the Jagannath Ballav Parking area and seized several weapons from them including a country-made revolver.

The accused have been recognized as Bijina alias Bijya Pradhan (40), Aju alias Ajaya Pradhan (36), Bulu Behera (38), Rohit Kumar Saha (24), Dhuna alias Dhiren Jena (30), Tinku alias Uttam Mohanty (32) and Jaya alias Jayadeba Kandhi (27).

As per report, the gang was planning and preparing to commit dacoity at Vegetable Godown located near Devighat in Puri town. During night patrolling, the Town Police conducted a raid and busted the gang.

Seven of the gang members were arrested and forwarded to the Puri SDJM court. The seized items include two iron swords, one country-made revolver, two half-filled mineral water bottles, seven disposal glasses and two empty wine bottles.
