Putin, Tokayev talk about Kazakhstan's situation, bilateral solidarity

MOSCOW: During their meeting in Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev addressed Kazakhstan's stability and bilateral cooperation.

President Tokayev's hard position, Russia's support, and the Collective Security Treaty Organization's (CSTO) assistance made it possible to restore order and peace in Kazakhstan in the shortest period possible, Putin said after talks with the Kazakh leader on Thursday.

"An act of terrorist assault undertaken with the direct cooperation of destructive internal and external forces," Russian President Vladimir Putin said of the riots in January.

According to sources, Putin hailed the Collective Security Treaty Organization's cooperative efforts to stop the upheaval in Kazakhstan and restore peace, as well as the work being done by Kazakhstan's President to normalise the situation.
