In the women's singles event, the Rio-Olympic silver-medallist PV Sindhu defeated Sun Yu of China in a clash by 21-14, 21-9 in just 39 minutes. With this win, she has entered in the semi-finals of the World Badminton Championships.
She will now lock horns with China's Chen Yufei for a place in the summit showdown.
In another match, Saina Nehwal will also attempt to look her place in the semi-finals when she takes on Scotland's Kirsty Gilmour.
