Quotes and Money Lessons from Suze Orman

My street name is "the Money Lady." That's what strangers say when they stop me: "Look, it's the Money Lady!" Emphasis on the money. Early in my career, they seemed to be commenting primarily on the fact that I was always popping up somewhere giving financial advice. But as the years have gone by, I've sensed that the people I meet are referring to my success—and that I am powerful in their eyes because I've made money.

They've got it all wrong. Money didn't make me powerful. And if it weren't for the fact that I'm usually standing in a crosswalk when people stop me, I'd tell them that when I first had a lot of money, it served the purpose of showing me exactly how powerless I was. In fact, money has taught me a great many lessons. Let me share them with you:

“When you are grateful - when you can see what you have - you unlock blessings to flow in your life.”

“When you can be happy in your sadness as you are in your happiness. Then you know the key to life.”

“A big part of financial freedom is having your heart and mind free from worry about the what-ifs of life.”

“I answered her spiritually. And that is where Oprah [Winfrey]comes from. She comes from a place of the truth within her. And I think that's why we clicked. And I think that's why we still continue to click.”

“True generosity must benefit both parties. No woman can control her destiny if she doesn't give to herself as much as she gives of herself.”

“I've learned from her [ Oprah Winfrey] really how to stand in one's truth, how if you just simply are who you are, you know, you're heavy, you're thin, you're happy, you're sad - if you just speak your truth as it comes into your mind, then that's what people relate to.”
