Raducanu, the US Open champion stunned in Linz by qualifier Xinyu

LINZ: Emma Raducanu, the latest tennis sensation and US Open champion from the United Kingdom, continued her poor form in the second round of the Upper Austria Ladies Linz, losing 6-1, 6-7(0), 7-5 to qualifier Wang Xinyu of China. Xinyu stunned No. 1 seed Raducanu in a late Tuesday evening match, while second seed Simona Halep of Romania recovered from a recent loss to Aliaksandra Sasnovich of Belarus to advance to the quarterfinals.

106th in the world Wang defeated this year's most recent Grand Slam champion in 2 hours and 36 minutes, and the 20-year-old from Shenzhen, China, moved closer to potentially making her WTA top-100 debut.

Wang had faced top-20 opposition for the first four times in her career this season, and she had yet to win a set in any of those encounters. Wang was able to win her first top-20 victory in Linz, despite Raducanu's new career-high ranking of world No.20 in this week's singles rankings. Raducanu was knocked out of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells in the second round last month, losing to Aliaksandra Sasnovich in straight sets in her first tournament since winning the US Open. Her 10-match winning streak, which began in New York, had come to an end.

In Manaus, India's senior women's football team will face Brazil, Chile, and Venezuela.
