Rahul Gandhi meets RJD supremo at Delhi's AIIMS

NEW DELHI: Congress Scion Rahul Gandhi on Monday met RJD chief Lalu Prasad, who is currently on the road to recovery at Delhi's All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Worth mentioning here The RJP supremo has been serving a jail term since December 23, 2017.

He is undergoing treatment for a variety of ailments related to the heart and kidney and was admitted to the institute on March 29. The AIIMS administration had formed a medical team including six doctors to decide his course of treatment.

The committee is chaired by Head of Department of Medicine Dr Naveet Wig and consists of doctors from the departments of surgery, cardiology, nephrology, and neurology.

Lalu Prasad, who has been serving an imprison term in Ranchi in links with the fodder scam, was admitted to the AIIMS for specialized treatment after being referred by the Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) in Ranchi. He had been admitted to RIMS in Ranchi on March 17 over complaints of restlessness while he was blocked behind the bars at the Birsa Munda Jail.

The former Bihar chief minister has been found guilty in four fodder scam cases since 2013. The latest is the Dumka treasury case, in which a special CBI court sentenced Lalu to 14 years in jail.
