'Ajay Mishra must go to jail...', Rahul Gandhi lashes out at Centre over Lakhimpur violence

New Delhi: Congress Lok Sabha MP Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday attacked PM Narendra Modi over an application filed in court by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in the Lakhimpur violence case and said minister of state for home Ajay Mishra will have to resign and go to jail. He also said that on the one hand, the PM apologises to the farmers and on the other hand, he is making a minister to a person who has "killed the farmers".'

The House was adjourned for the day after a one-time adjournment following uproar by opposition members in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday over the SIT's application for the Lakhimpur violence case. Rahul Gandhi had given adjournment notice in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday on the Lakhimpur case. In the notice, Rahul Gandhi had demanded suspension of the scheduled business in the House and said that the report SIT should be discussed in the House.

Talking to reporters after the House was adjourned, Rahul Gandhi claimed, "Farmers were killed. It is said that the Minister is involved in it. On the one hand, the Prime Minister apologises to the farmers and on the other hand, he does not pay compensation to the families of the farmers who lost their lives. He has placed in his cabinet a man who is a murderer who killed farmers.'
