'The country needs breath, not PM housing...' Rahul's taunt on PM over Central Vista project

New Delhi: While the country is facing another wave of corona infection, political turmoil has erupted over the Central Vista project. Several opposition leaders, including former Congress national president Rahul Gandhi, have raised questions about it. Rahul Gandhi today tweeted that 'The country needs breath, not PM housing!'

The central government's ambitious Central Vista project seems to be constantly embroiled in controversies. Work on the project is underway in Delhi, but the demand to stop it is gaining momentum during the corona period. The case was heard in the Supreme court last Friday. The petitioner has asserted that the project should be stopped for now, realizing the seriousness of the time. The nearly 2.5 km long route on Rajpath is called central vista. There are about 44 buildings on the Central Vista Route from India Gate to Rashtrapati Bhavan. Includes Parliament House, North Block, South Block etc.

The entire zone, which has been re-planned, has been named the Central Vista Project, costing about Rs. 30,000 crores.  The Vista project will have a new Tikona Parliament House on about 13 acres of land in front of the old circular Parliament House. There are parks, temporary construction and parking on this land right now. All this will be removed. The new Parliament House will have one building each for lok sabha and rajya sabha, but no central hall.
