Rahul Gandhi Vows Caste and Economic Survey If Congress Comes to Power

Surat: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi pledged to conduct a caste and economic survey across the country on a priority basis if the Congress comes to power at the Centre. Addressing an election rally in Patan city of North Gujarat, Rahul Gandhi emphasized that proper representation is lacking for SC, ST, and OBC communities in various sectors like corporate, media, private hospitals, universities, and government bureaucracy.

Accusing the BJP and RSS of attempting to change the Constitution, Rahul Gandhi claimed that the ruling NDA is against reservation. He asserted, "Reservation means fair participation of the poor, tribals, Dalits, and backward people. Narendra Modi wants to snatch this right from you by making privatization a weapon."

Rahul Gandhi highlighted the increasing economic disparity in India, stating that only 1 percent of the population controls 40 percent of the country's wealth. He criticized the BJP government's initiatives like Agniveer and privatization, which, according to him, aim to end reservation.

He emphasized the ideological battle between the Congress and the BJP-RSS alliance, portraying the former as protectors of the Constitution and the latter as its destroyers.

Rahul Gandhi also criticized the recent inauguration of the Ram temple, highlighting the absence of poor people, farmers, and laborers at the event. He expressed disappointment that President Kovind, a tribal community member, was not invited. Rahul Gandhi promised to revoke the Agniveer scheme and introduce the Mahalaxmi Yojana if Congress comes to power.
