New Delhi: Protests have begun against the 'Agneepath' scheme brought by the Central government for recruitment of soldiers in the Army, Navy and Air Force. Hundreds of students took to the streets in several districts of Bihar on Thursday. Incidents of arson have also been seen in many places. Amid opposition to the Centre's 'Agneepath' scheme, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, accused in the National Herald case, has hit out at the government.

At the same time, Congress national general secretary and Rahul's sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has also attacked the central government over the Agneepath scheme. Priyanka Gandhi tweeted, "In the eyes of the youth preparing for army recruitment, there are dreams of service to the country, service to parents, home, family and the future. What will the new army recruitment plan give them? After 4 years, there is no guarantee of job in hand, no pension facility = No Rank, No Pension. Prime Minister, don't crush the dreams of the youth. '
What the youth will get in the Agneepath scheme:-
Under this scheme, about 45,000 youth will be recruited in the army every year. The firemen will be given 30,000 to 40,000 salary and other benefits per month. During this time, Agnivir will get awards, medals and insurance cover like permanent soldiers of the three services. You will get an insurance cover of Rs 48 lakh. If martyred or disabled during service, their family will be given compensation of up to Rs 44 lakh. After completion of four years, 25 per cent will get the opportunity to serve in the army for another 15 years. Those Agniveers who will be out after four years will be given a tax-free nearly Rs 12 lakh in lump sum under the Service Fund package. At the same time, after the completion of 4 years, the governments of UP, MP, Assam and Haryana have announced to give priority to these agniveers in the recruitment of the state police. But the youth is creating disturbances on the streets by coming under misunderstanding or deception, if there is a legitimate demand, it can be resolved by discussing with the administration.
