Railway Reservation Fraud, four arrested with Rs 5.94 lakh

Touting railway tickets has led to arrests of four people in the city. In a raid, led be a special operation team formed by personnel of the CBI, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Central Railway's Vigilance Department, about 190 reserved tickets were seized worth Rs 5, 94, 470. 

The team of four CBI inspectors headed by Rakesh K, and Balvinder Singh, a five member team of RPF sub inspectors including Harful Singh, Sunil Kumar, Rekha Mishra conducted four raids along with the vigilance officers of the central railway. 

Seventy seven reserved tickets valued at Rs 2.58 lakh were seized from a travel agency based in Sion.

They also arrested the agency's owner identified as Haribansh Chaursiya. Similarly, another tout Anuj Kumar was arrested from Kalamboli with 20 e-tickets valued at Rs 55, 515. The team also arrested Niyamat Ullah from Kamathipura with 22 reserved tickets valued at Rs 26, 025 and Lalit Jha from Kandivali with 74 e-tickets valued at Rs 2, 54, 155.

Jha allegedly booked tickets with the help of a software named Red Mirchi, the investigations showed.
