Railways Launched 772 New Train Services, Including 100 Vande Bharat Trains, in Last 5-Yrs: Ashwini Vaishnaw

New Delhi: Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced in the Rajya Sabha on Friday that Indian Railways has introduced a total of 772 new train services from 2019-2020 to 2023-2024. This impressive number includes 100 Vande Bharat trains, a flagship initiative aimed at modernizing India's rail network.

Vaishnaw's update came in response to a query from BJP MP Neeraj Shekhar, who inquired about the new trains introduced over the past five years and the plans for 2024-2025. The minister's written statement detailed the introduction of various train types, including Vande Bharat, Rajdhani, and other services.

"Indian Railways continues to enhance its services by introducing different types of trains, such as express, superfast, passenger, MEMU, DEMU, and suburban trains," Vaishnaw explained.

"Between 2019 and 2024, we have launched 772 new train services, among which 100 are Vande Bharat trains. The process of adding new trains is ongoing and depends on factors like traffic demand, operational feasibility, and resource availability," he added.
