Director slaps Raj Kapoor, loves white saree

Late actor-director Raj Kapoor, who is said to be Bollywood's 'show man', was born on this day. He was born on December 14, 1924, in Peshawar (Pakistan) and won everyone's heart with his work and style. Raj Kapoor's hard work and ability, not his family, was behind the heights he scaled in his career. He started working as a spot boy in Ranjit Moviecom and Bombay Talkies film production company at the age of 17. Raj Kapoor was born in the house of a personality like Prithvi Raj Kapoor, but even after this, Raj Kapoor had to struggle hard in Bollywood. The beginning was not easy for him. He started his career as a clapper boy. It is said that while working as a 'clapper boy' in a film by Kedar Sharma, one of the famous directors of that era, Raj Kapoor once clapped so loudly that the fake beard of the hero came out trapped in the clap.

Kedar Sharma was furious and slapped Raj Kapoor for his behavior, though it was Kedar who later took Raj Kapoor as a hero in his film 'Neelkamal'. Raj Kapoor played the lead role in the film 'Neelkamal' with famous actor Madhubala and became a super hit after this film. Raj Kapoor's full name was 'Ranbir Raj Kapoor'. Ranbir is now the name of his grandson, Rishi-Neetu Kapoor's son. Not only Raj Kapoor's films but many songs from his films became very popular, including 'Mera Juta Hai Japani' (Shri 420), 'Awara Hoon' (Awara), 'Abhai Zara Dekh Ke Chalo' and 'Jeena Isi Ke Naam Hai' (Mera Naam Joker) are the most famous. Raj Kapoor's films include 'Mera Naam Joker', 'Shri 420', 'Awara', 'Bewafa', 'Asiana', 'Amber', 'Anhoni', 'Paapi', 'Aah', 'Dhun', 'Boot Polish'. Raj Kapoor is said to have loved white sarees.

When he was young, he saw a woman in a white sari, and he fell in love with her. It is said that at that time, Raj Kapoor became so infatuated with the white sari that he made to wore a white sari to the heroines working in his films – Nargis, Padmini, Vyjayanthimala, Zeenat Aman and Mandakini. Not only this, but his wife Krishna also always used to wear a white sari in the house. Raj was honored with 'Padma Bhushan' in 1971 by the Government of India for his extraordinary contribution to the entertainment world. Along with this, he also received the Filmfare Award for Best Director for 'Sangam' in 1965, 'Mera Naam Joker' in 1970 and 'Prem Rog' in 1983.
