Rajasthan government increases dearness allowance upto 5 percent

Jaipur: A relief news has emerged on Friday amid the lockdown implemented across the country due to Coronavirus. The Rajasthan government has announced an increase in DA allowance of 5 percent for its employees. As per the order issued by the Finance Department, now the DA of the state personnel has been increased from 12 percent to 17 percent. The DA increase will benefit about one and a half million workers in the state.

It is noteworthy that there are about 7 lakh employees and about three and half lakh pensioners in the state, who will get the benefit of DA increase. However, compared to the central government, the state employees have been given the benefit after a delay of about eight months. Employees appointed before January 1, 2004, from July 1, 2019 to February 29, 2020, dearness allowance will be deposited in their GPF fund.

Whereas, employees appointed after 1 January 2004 will get cash benefit of the outstanding DA. All employees will receive the enhanced DA cash benefit from 1 March 2020. Which will be met with this increase in salary and pension on 1 April. The Finance Department had this week sent a file for increase in DA to CM Ashok Gehlot. After approving the proposal, the file has been sent back from the CMO to the Finance Department on Friday.
