New Delhi: The corona virus outbreak continues in the country and the fight against infection is also in full swing. While the vaccination process is ordered to be intensified to defeat corona, the first consignment of corona drug 2-DG manufactured by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) will be launched today to fight corona. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan will launch the medicine at 10.30 am today. After the launch, it will start visiting the patients in the next day or two. It is said that 10,000 doses have been prepared at Dr Reddy's Lab in Hyderabad. State that Karnataka Health Minister Dr. K. Sudhakar had visited the DRDO premises over the drug. In which scientists from DRDO briefed him about the drug 2DG. A statement issued by the Health Ministry said that the 2-DG developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is a major achievement, which can play an important role in tackling the epidemic. It was during the first wave of the epidemic that INMAS DRDO scientists conducted laboratory tests after which it was found that the drug works effectively against the SARS-COV-2 virus. This was followed by clinical trials of Phase-II of 2-DG in corona patients in May 2020 and the second phase of tests conducted from May to October 2020 found the drug safe and showed significant improvement in their recovery.
