Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is always in the news for his controversial statements. However, this time he has come into the limelight due to being caught in the legal tangle. A case has also been registered against Ram Gopal by the Hyderabad Police. He has also been accused of not repaying Rs 56 lakh borrowed from the owner of a production house. The complaint against Ram Gopal Varma has been lodged by Koppada Shekhar Raju of Shekhar Art Creations. On his complaint, a case has been registered against the filmmaker at Miyapur police station. The complainant alleged that Verma had borrowed money from her to make the movie 'Disha' and had also promised to return it before the release of the movie, but despite this, he has not returned the money so far. The movie 'Disha' was based on the gang rape and murder of a Hyderabad-based doctor in 2019. This included four convicts who were later killed by the police in the encounter. Raju has told the police that he was identified with the filmmaker a few years ago through a common friend Ramana Reddy. He had given Rs 8 lakh in January, 2020 and Rs 20 lakh after a few days. After which he has also promised to return the amount in six months. But a month later, on February 2020, Ram Gopal Varma called again and had borrowed Rs 28 lakh more citing financial problems. Along with this, the actor had also said to return the entire Rs 56 lakh on or before the release of the movie. But in January 2021, he came to know that he was not producing the film 'Disha'. Ram Gopal Varma has even cheated them. Now, following the complaint of the man, the police have also registered a case against the filmmaker under sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 417 (punishment for cheating), 420 (cheating and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
