Ramdas Soren of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has officially joined the Jharkhand government as a new cabinet minister. His appointment comes as a replacement for Champai Soren, who recently stepped down from both his ministerial role and as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). The oath-taking ceremony took place at Raj Bhavan in Ranchi, where Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar administered the oath to Ramdas Soren. The event was attended by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, senior leaders from the JMM-led alliance, and various government officials. Champai Soren resigned from his ministerial position and his MLA seat earlier this week, citing dissatisfaction with the current administration's approach and policies. It is reported that Champai Soren plans to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) soon. Champai Soren had only recently been appointed as a minister in Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s cabinet, having taken office just last month. His resignation follows a period of significant political shifts in Jharkhand, including Hemant Soren’s temporary resignation as Chief Minister on February 2 due to his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate. Hemant Soren resumed office on July 4 after being granted bail.
