Ramesh Urges PM Modi to Pick Up His Bag and Head to the Himalayas

New Delhi: Congress leader Jairam Ramesh recently invoked a statement made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi back in 2016. As the nation awaited the results of the Lok Sabha polls, Ramesh took a dig at the Prime Minister, urging him to recall his own words and "pick up his bag and head to the Himalayas."

Referencing an address made by PM Modi in Moradabad on December 3, 2016, Ramesh reminded the outgoing Prime Minister of his remark where he portrayed himself as a "poor man" who would simply leave if necessary. In a tweet, Ramesh called upon Modi to fulfill his words and embark on a journey towards the Himalayas.

The ongoing vote counting for the Lok Sabha polls revealed initial trends indicating PM Modi trailing from the Varanasi seat. However, he later surged ahead of Congress's Ajay Rai by a considerable margin, consolidating the BJP stronghold.

PM Modi's reference to himself as a 'fakir' during an address to BJP workers in Moradabad resonated with Ramesh's tweet, highlighting the context of the Prime Minister's earlier statement.

As the counting process continued, the Congress-led INDIA bloc showcased leading trends in states like Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra, surprising the BJP-led NDA. Additionally, the Congress presented a formidable challenge to the BJP in states such as Rajasthan and Haryana, indicating a closely contested electoral landscape.
