New Delhi: After Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo and Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, election strategist Prashant Kishore had also cornered former Congress president Rahul Gandhi. Prashant, who played a key role in Mamata's victory in the West Bengal assembly elections, tweeted a tweet without naming him on Thursday (December 2, 2021) questioning Congress' alleged bid for strong opposition leadership. Prashant wrote in his tweet, "The idea and place that the Congress represents are important for a strong opposition. But the Leadership of Congress is not the divine right of a particular person. Especially when the party has lost 90 per cent of its elections in the last 10 years. Let the opposition leadership be elected democratically. Earlier on Wednesday (December 1, 2021), West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee had said that there is no United Progressive Alliance (UPA) left. The PK has since called for democratic elections to lead the opposition. Congress has also reacted sharply to the statement of PK, who has chalked out an electoral strategy for various parties. Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala has said that we do not respond to the consultant's words. Especially when he has worked with Modiji. On Mamata Banerjee, Surjewala said he has to decide whether he is with the fascist forces or against him. Congress spokesperson Pawan Kheda tweeted, "The person being discussed here is discharging his natural responsibility of saving and fighting Indian democracy from RSS. A professional political party/party with no ideological commitment. He is free to advise people on contesting elections, but he cannot set the agenda of our politics. A few months ago, there were speculations of PK joining the Congress. His meeting with Rahul Gandhi had also fuelled these speculations.
