Ravichandran Ashwin wins 'ICC Player of the Month' award

New Delhi: Team India's star off-spinner R Ashwin has received the ICC's Best Cricketer Award for the month of February. He has won this award, leaving behind England Test captain Joe Root in this race. Prior to that in January, the award was received by wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant. Ashwin had a great performance in the four-match Test series against England in February. He performed brilliantly not only with the ball but also with the bat. He took 32 wickets in the entire series, which is an Indian record.

In February, he played three Tests and scored 176 runs. It also includes a crucial century against England in Chennai. Along with this, he showed the way to the pavilion of England players 24 times with the ball. In the same month, he also crossed the 400 wicket mark in his Test career.

From this year ICC has launched the Player of the Month Award to honor one best performing player per month. The first Player of the Month award in January was given to Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant. 3-3 players from Mains and Womens have received nominations for the month of February.
