After the removal of Article 370, record tourists came to J&K this year

Srinagar: A record 1.62 crore tourists have arrived in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir so far this year. This is the largest number of tourists visiting here since independence in 1947. The Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department says that after the removal of Article 370, a record number of tourists are reaching Jammu and Kashmir. Tourism Department officials have said that this large number of tourists reflects the golden era of Kashmir tourism.  

Officials have said that tourism is the biggest source of employment in Jammu and Kashmir. Since the beginning of this year, 1.62 crore tourists have come to see the beauty of Jammu and Kashmir, which is the largest number of tourists since independence. Tourism has created employment in many areas of Jammu and Kashmir including Poonch, and Rajouri. As many as 75 places have been identified for tourism in Jammu and Kashmir under the Central government's Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav campaign, the statement said.  

In the first eight months of this year, 20.5 lakh tourists have visited Kashmir, out of which 3.65 lakh pilgrims came to visit the cave of Barfani Baba Amarnath. Tourist destinations like Pahalgam, Gulmarg and Sonamarg and all hotels and guesthouses in Srinagar were also packed.
