Red Lorry Film Festival Returns for Its Second Edition, Expanding to Hyderabad and Mumbai

After a successful inaugural edition that took cinephiles on a journey through global cinema, the Red Lorry Film Festival, curated by BookMyShow, is back for its second edition. This year, the festival promises to offer audiences a captivating experience with a diverse selection of films from around the world.

The first edition, held in Mumbai in 2024, made a significant impact, showcasing over 100 films in various languages such as Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, French, Spanish, German, Turkish, and Russian. These films were presented across multiple categories, including Premieres, World Cinema, Documentaries, and Retrospectives, offering a unique and immersive cinematic experience. The event also featured engaging masterclasses and panel discussions, highlighting the talent behind these films.

The 2025 edition of the Red Lorry Film Festival will be even more expansive, with the festival making its debut in Hyderabad alongside its return to Mumbai. The festival, set to take place from March 21st to 23rd, 2025, promises an exciting lineup of films that will resonate with audiences by transcending borders and time. The Hyderabad event will be called "Red Lorry Film Festival: Parallel Verse," where powerful stories will come to life.

A major highlight this year is the introduction of the Competition Segment, which aims to celebrate outstanding filmmaking talent. The competition will feature two key categories: The Front Runners (Best Film) and Fresh Frames (Best Debut Film), recognizing both established and emerging filmmakers. The festival invites filmmakers to submit their work and compete for these prestigious awards. Early bird submissions will be open until December 7th, 2024, with the final deadline for submissions on January 7th, 2025.

Ashish Saksena, COO – Cinemas at BookMyShow, expressed his excitement about the return of the festival. “India’s growing love for world cinema is what inspired the creation of Red Lorry Film Festival,” he said. “We are excited to bring the festival to Hyderabad, a city with a deep passion for cinema, and we look forward to celebrating the power of storytelling with filmmakers from around the world.”

The festival will showcase a rich array of films, TV series, documentaries, and restored classics, offering a platform for global filmmakers to connect with Indian audiences. As BookMyShow continues to foster a love for cinema, the Red Lorry Film Festival is set to become an annual celebration of diverse, transformative storytelling.
