MEERUT: The father of an army officer has been charged with murdering his daughter-in-law in support with another retired army officer. Shravan Singh Rathore, a retired honorary captain in the army's Artillery Regiment's Missile Brigade, and his mother have been charged with murder. The body of a 28-year-old lady was found entangled in the bushes beside a roadway in Haryana's Yamunanagar on February 20.Umrao Singh Rathore, 29, a sergeant at Sarsawa Air Force Station in Saharanpur, had filed a missing person report three days earlier, on February 17. Puja, his wife, had vanished. Puja was later recognised as the woman whose body was found. Umrao met Puja, a dancer, on social internet several years ago, according to police reports. They fell in love and married in 2018, despite his father Shravan Singh Rathore's wishes. Shravan devised a scheme to kill his daughter-in-law and contacted Parvez Ahmad, a retired hawaldar who had served in the same brigade and managed the grocery store outside the air force station where the couple resided.
