New Delhi: Rewa in Madhya Pradesh will soon have a fully functional airport. For the construction and management of the new airport, the state government has allocated Rs. 300 crore in funding. Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, the Union Minister for Civil Aviation & Steel, and Shivraj Singh Chauhan, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, laid the foundation for the project. As of December 22, the state government handed the existing airport over to the Airport Authority of India (AAI) for renovation and development of facilities to fly 19-seater aircraft. On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his congratulations to the residents of Madhya Pradesh's Rewa on the upcoming airport. PM Modi claimed that the development of this airport would make life easier for residents of Rewa and the neighbouring districts. In response to a tweet by Janardan Mishra, a Member of Parliament from Rewa, the Prime Minister tweeted "Congratulations. The creation of this airport would make life easier for those who live in Rewa and the surrounding areas and connect them to the rapid speed of development." Vindhya and Baghel Khand are ready for the flight of development today, the years-old dream of the Vindhya region is going to come true, the Chief Minister said. After laying the foundation stone, CM had also addressed the Women's Conference. He has committed 32 development projects totaling Rs. 747 crore and performed bhoomi-pujan. The Chief Minister also gave bonuses to those who qualified for various programmes. On this occassion Bhoomi-puja also introduced the Rewa district's development pamphlet and the "Rewa Chalo Abhiyan" campaign's logo. "There are immense opportunities for the industry in Vindhya and new employment opportunities will also be available, There is already a road network in the area" he had said. Investment proposals worth Rs 2,88,000 crore have been received for the Vindhya region, the highest after Indore in the recently concluded investor meet in Indore. "This is indeed a great gift not only for Rewa but for the entire Vindhya region. This investment will provide employment opportunities to over 1,50,000 people in the area," he had added.
