Melbourne: India made history by beating Australia 2-1 to Border-Gavaskar. It was a very difficult series for India, as all the big players, including Bumrah, Ashwin, Shami, Jadeja, were injured. Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting is shocked at India's win. Ponting said that he doesn't understand how India's A team succeeded in defeating Australia. Ricky Ponting, however, has admitted that Team India deserved a win in the Brisbane Test. Ponting added, "I am surprised that Australia could not win this series. It was India's A-team and yet it won the contest," Ponting added, "The conditions that Team India has gone through in the last five or six weeks. The captain returned home and he could not take the entire strong team to the ground amidst the injuries of the players. Australia had played with a strong team, just initially David Warner could not play." Ponting described India as a real entitled to victory. He said, "It was not even India's second chosen team as it did not even have Bhuvneshwar Kumar or Ishant Sharma. Rohit Sharma also played the last two Tests. India played excellent cricket. Cashed in on all the decisive chances of the Test match that Australia could not do. That was the difference between the two teams. India deserved this victory."
