Ricky Ponting says, this player should play at No. 4 position for India in World Cup 2019

Just few days left for ICC World Cup 2019 and as it is approaching hard and fast, the discussion surrounding who will be in the squard has been started. But debate about who should play at the number four position in the Indian batting line-up doesn’t seem to end. In recent months, India have tried a few players such as Ambati Rayudu, KL Rahul, Vijay Shankar, Rishabh Pant, MS Dhoni and even Virat Kohli have played second-down in order to lock someone for the position. While, the Indian team hasn’t figured out who the best option is for this position, Now Australian cricket team’s assistant coach,Ricky Ponting said that Shreyas Iyer can be selected for this position.

Ponting  said the Indian team management could have tried Shreyas Iyer in that position after the recent failures of Rayudu and Pant. Ponting further praised Iyer by saying his record in the domestic season speaks for himself and added that he is excited to meet him for the impending IPL season.

Former Australian captain further said that  the Indian team management can fit Rahul in that spot. Ponting said,  They tried a few even during the recent Australia series. Rayudu was there, Rishabh, Shankar. They could have also have tried Shreyas Iyer. He is a very good player. He has had a great domestic season. I am excited to catch up with him. It's an interesting conundrum; maybe, they can fit in KL Rahul in that spot.”
