NEW DELHI: Mohan Bhagwat, the leader of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), met Umer Ahmed Ilyasi in the nation's capital at the Kasturba Gandhi Marg mosque. Sunil Ambekar of the RSS stated said it was a part of the ongoing dialogue with the people. The meeting between Bhagwat and a group of Muslim academics just before the meeting. A five-person team saw Bhagwat in August, and they spoke for over an hour. During the meeting the atmosphere in the country and measures to boost communal harmony, solidarity were discussed in detail. S.Y. Quraishi, a former chief election commissioner and one of the Muslim intellectuals who visited Bhagwat, said that he had requested a meeting with the Sangh chief to discuss the country's racial climate. The team then met with the head of the RSS in Delhi. Quraishi continued by saying that the delegation and the head of the RSS were in agreement that the country cannot be strong or advance without improving intercommunal harmony. He said, it was also decided at the meeting that all parties involved should do their best to persuade and inspire their respective populations to improve racial harmony across the nation. Along with Quraishi, the delegation also comprised former MP Shahid Siddiqui, industrialist and philanthropist Saeed Sherwani, and former vice chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Lt. Gen.
