London: A player of the Wales rugby team is suffering from HIV positive. This player declared himself gay 12 years ago. This player is Gareth Thomas, the former captain of Wales' rugby team. He said that he has been living with the disease for many years. Thomas also called on people to help break the perception of HIV. He posted a video saying that after constant threatening emails, he has decided to make his health information public. He said, 'I am Gareth Thomas and I want to share my secret with you. Why? Because you should know all this from me and not from those emails which have made my life hell. I was threatened to say this before you and because I believe in you and I trust you". Thomas said "I am living with HIV. Now you come to know that I am feeling insecure but I am not weakened by this". "Even though I was forced to tell you this, but I have decided to fight, make aware and break the perception on this issue". Gareth Thomas played 100 matches for Wales between 1995 and 2007. He also captained the British and Irish Lions team in 2005. After retiring from international rugby, he revealed in 2009 that he was gay. He has since been fighting against the fear being spread against homosexuality in sports. Despite this serious illness, he remains associated with sports as a specialist.
