S Jaishankar meets French counterpart in Bali

BALI: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with his French counterpart Catherine Colonna on Friday as part of the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting to discuss the current global problems.

Jaishankar noted: My first meeting with new French counterpart Catherine Colonna. We talked about how we have a solid partnership and how we will work together to realise all of its potentials. Also discussed the challenges the globe is currently facing. 'Came into contact with Russian FM Sergey Lavrov during the Bali G20 FMM. bilateral topics of common interest were discussed. W  also discussed current regional and global challenges, such as the war in Ukraine and Afghanistan," he stated.  Indonesia is organising this year's G20 Foreign Ministers' meeting.

Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, China, Germany, France, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, the United States, and the United Kingdom are among the G20 nations. The conflict in Ukraine will take up most of the agenda at the G20 Foreign Ministers' meeting.

Notably, India has advocated for diplomacy and communication to resolve the continuing conflict ever since the war in Ukraine started. The Indian External Affairs Minister also had meetings with the foreign ministers of the UAE, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Senegal, Aissata Tall Sall.

Participation of the External Affairs Minister in the G20 FMM will improve India's interaction with G20 members. India's participation in the next FMM negotiations acquires even greater significance as a G20 troika member and as the future G20 President, said the official statement.
